TVS Flame 125cc unveilled !!

After the success of Victor GLX in 125 cc segment, TVS motors has come up with a new 125 cc bike - TVS Flame loaded with more advanced features.

Its fitted with disc brakes and comes with black coated engines and frame so its targetted at the current interest of bike lovers.

Looks: Well my first impression was that the bike is a copy of many other bikes. For example have a look at the headlight, does that resemble the one of pulsar? hmm... and the tank.... remember ambition??

Fuel efficiency is claimed to be 112 kmpl under test conditions, which is not quite extraordinary from TVS bikes which has proved to be very much fuel efficient

After the launch of TVS flame, competition in 125cc is getting tougher as already bikes like bajaj discover, Hero Honda Glamour, Suzuki Zeus and heat, Hero Honda Super Splendor are already ruling the segment.

TVS Flame Price: 45k - Ex Showroom in Chennai for the drum brake version and 3000 extra for disc version.

Key Features of TVS Flame are

* Futuristic aerodynamic styling.
* The Fuel tank is embedded with Delta Edge clear lens indicators.
* First time in India- the LCD digital auto console in a 125 cc segment bike.
* Flame's dual lens tailamp will definitely turn the heads.
* India's first Deltaedge exhaust in triangle shape lowers the sounds, emissions delivering excellent performance.
* The 125 cc engine gives 10.5 bhp @ 8250 rpm that are Flame's power performance statement.

Bajaj XCD 125 cc DTS-Si

Here is another 125cc model from bajaj (quite unnecessary) after their successful 125cc version - bajaj discover. Bajaj discover has their 112cc and 135 cc variants.

This bike looks a mix of both pulsar and discover.. The tail light design is somewhat similar to the pulsar while the alloy wheels are of discover.

Price of Bajaj XCD 125 cc DTS-Si :- around 45k on road and the mileage under test conditions is given to be 109 kmpl which sounds great..

Bajaj Discover 135cc

With increasing competition from other bikes in 125cc segment, Bajaj has unveilled a new version of their mid end bike model - Discover.
I personally feel their 112cc Discover didn't get much popularity, but I am certainly seeing many many 135cc Discovers on road.

The price is around 55k compared to around 50k for the 125cc model. New 135 cc Discover comes with fully black engine casing and alloy wheels.

TVS Taurus Fiero F3 about to hit the road soon.

Well this could be the answer to bajaj automobiles' Pulsar's 250cc by TVS - TVS Taurus the new 250cc bike from TVS says its a never ending competition.

250cc Engine (Again single cylinder though) is what powers it. The main attraction is disc brake for the real wheel as well.... cool (Pulsar 250cc is being outdated there even before the launch !!).

Price........ little costly compared to Pulsar 250cc .. It could come somewhere around 1.30 L .

Hope this bike captures the indian roads soon.

Helmets with New Bikes?

Its true... It is mandatory for two wheeler manufacturers in the country to provide helmet with every new bike purchased.

Bike makers have already got tied up with helmet vendors inorder to obey this new rule. For instance, Bajaj Auto has signed up Aerostar, SteelBird and MPA to supply BIS standard helmets to their dealers.

Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India has provided a list of helmet vendors and list prices to its dealers and asked them to handle the situation on their own.

This can make a new twist in Helmet industry as bike manufacturers will be providing helmets, from the company they have a tie up with..

Lets wait and watch...

Bikes in India

Hi Welcome to blog on bikes in India,

I want to share the information on bike models of TVS, Hero Honda, bajaj and Enfield released in india through this blog.

Recently there was a move from bajaj to release the first 250cc model from bajaj family - the Pulsar 250cc. I couldn't see this bike in showrooms and it was only shown in an auto expo in Delhi.

You can see some photographs of Bajaj Pulsar 250 cc in India Forums

125 cc bikes control a market share of 18 per cent of total motor cycle market.

Auto analysts in the country feel that 125 cc variants of the executive segment (middle segment) bikes will outnumber their 100/110 cc counterparts in the segment in over one-and-a-half years.

At present, 70,000 bikes are sold in 125 cc segment compared with 2.4 lakh bikes in the 100/110 cc (executive segment) in a month. However, the trend is likely to reverse in the near future.

Improved fuel economy from 125 cc bikes compared with their 100 cc counterparts, diminishing price differential between the two segments and more variety as a result of entry of new players would be the key factors that would drive the 125 cc segment ahead of 100 cc bikes.

“Today a Super Splendour (125 cc) offers better mileage compared with Passion plus (100 cc),” said PS Sunder, general manager, (Marketing), Hero Honda.

The 125 cc executive segment bikes are priced at Rs 44-49,000 compared with their 100 cc counterparts at Rs 41-43,000.

Super Splendor, Glamour, Discover (125), Prima, and Victor GLX are major names in the 125 cc executive segment. Splendor, Passion Plus, Discover (112), LML Freedom (110) and Victor GX (110) are the bikes in the 100/110 cc segment.

“In about three years after its entry, 125 cc bikes control a market share of 18 per cent of the total motor cycle market in the country. The segment has potential to beat the 100cc/110 cc bikes in volumes,” said KS Grihapati, general manager, (Marketing), Bajaj Auto.

Understanding the trend, Honda Motor Cycles and Scooters India (HMSI) and Suzuki have decided to give more focus on 125 cc segment.

Honda, recently launched its executive 125 cc variant, Shine, priced at Rs 45-47,000. The company has plans to launch one more 125 cc bike and another 100 cc bike.

“125 cc would be our focus area as we do feel that the segment would outnumber the 100 cc segment in volumes by 2008 when more 125 cc models would have entered the Indian market,” said senior officials in HMSI.

Bye..
